Since the dawn of time Cannes, the Jewel in the crown of the 'Côte d'Azur', has been a focal point of festivals and is a cultural melting pot, full with people from a wide range of backgrounds. It is located only 10 km west of Antibes. You could not dream of a place closer to paradise than Cannes, a town whose eclectic make-up has amazed even the most powerful.
From the Romans, who chose to settle here, to the English Chancellor Lord Brougham, and not to mention Napoleon, Cocteau and many others, they have all fallen in love with this vibrant, colourful town and its mediterranean way of life.
Cannes embodies the sweetly scented notion of a life which everybody dreams of living. It is the harmonious marriage of sparkling colour and dazzling light. It's arid loving vegetation prospers languidly in this idyllic climate. The perfect getaway for those who appreciate the finer things in life.
If life in Cannes is a festival, it is because nothing is left up to chance, everything is planned down to the smallest detail in order to meet the expectations of everyone who visits. Here, where French cuisine is at its finest , we are invited by the most dignified representatives of this art to take part in a 'festival of flavour', shellfish and crustaceans, freshly caught fish, local specialities perfumed with the delicate aromas of basil, garlic or black olive. From prestigious cuisine to traditional dishes, all types of cuisine can be tasted.
The old town, 'Le Suquet' which is perched on the hillside, is a pretty Provençal citadel which contrasts with the cosmopolitanism nature of the seaside hotels and the power shopping style of the 'Rue d'Antibes'. Another respite from the jet set life is the picturesque morning flower market in the 'Allées de Liberté'.
And more to discover...From your lunching table, you'll be able to look out upon the yachts making their way around the 'Iles de Lérins'. There are the two yacht harbors, one to the east, one to the west of the city. Further to the west you will find the deep red 'Massif d'Esterel' a mountain rising steeply from the sea...
