Mandatory tests (1 hour and 30 minutes)
Complementary tests (2 hours)
The TCF, 'Test de connaissance de français', is a test which has been designed by the French Ministry of Education to evaluate the candidates' skills in French as a foreign language in a simple, fast and reliable manner.
TCF is a language test in standard French meant for non French speakers. It is open to candidates of all ages and nationalities and does not require any specific training.
STUDENTS : The TCF is recognised by the most prestigious universities both in France and abroad. Check with the university to which you want to apply, for the scores they require.
TEACHERS: The TCF is the easiest, fastest and most precise method to check your skills in French. It is issued by the 'Centre International d'Etudes Pédagogiques' (CIEP).
The TCF is a multiple-choice test of 80 items. The mandatory examinations present 80 multiple choice questions. The Complementary exams provide an opportunity for oral and written expression.
The TCF is a standard test (ISO 9001, 2000 version) with strict methodology. All the tests are corrected in accordance with stringent procedures. This method allows for a reliable evaluation of the candidates' level of knowledge on the scale of 6 levels established by the European Council (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2). Each candidate will receive an attestation document indicating his level of knowledge of the French language. The diploma is valid for 2 years.
There are no French lessons on the Monday of your arrival or on public holidays. These lessons are neither replaced nor reimbursed.
